Three Man

9

This poster was designed to promote a live show held on April 16, 2011 at Shimokitazawa ERA, a well-known live house in Tokyo. The pink text on the left hand side presents the following performing bands: 新世界リチウム ( Shinsekai Lithium),  快速東京 (Kaisoku Tokyo), and told. The design portrays bold geometric shapes in bright yellow and magenta, creating a high energy visual that reflects the vibrant Tokyo music scene. The bottom portion is a monochrome photograph of the three bands which are overlaid with vertical name tags identifying each member. In the background of this work, there is a subtle motif from the old Japanese national flag.

This design is credited to Yuta Ichinose, a Japanese graphic designer and art director based in Tokyo, known for their editorial work in magazines and books.  Ichinose is also known to be part of the rock band Kaisoku Tokyo. By combining playful and bright color blocks with a structured photograph, the portrait reflects the energy of the performing bands while advertising the event in general.  It is titled “Three Man” because it is a three man gig.
